blazer + denim

Nothing can make you feel quite as ready for the world as a blazer can. Great for those mum moments when you have 2.5 seconds to decide what to wear - just throw a blazer on, and everything will be a-ok...hopefully.

With the indulgence of an extra 2 seconds, there's a sweet twist to be had by adding a hoodie - quite the juxtaposition of clothing choices; which I am so into. It makes for easy layering for spring on those slightly cooler days, whilst also making for a super chill, effortless look. Happy layering.

Blazer - Anine Bing
Hoodie - vintage [try All Saints]

acid green x tortoiseshell

I am *slightly* obsessed with this particular shade of green - I note it as acid green - it's verging on neon, but not quite there.

Paired with a simple black body, tortoiseshell bag & Balenciaga black denim mules - it makes for a somewhat unlikely combo, that I am super into: you shall be seeing a fair bit of this skirt, pls be aware.

over-size

Oversized denim: there really is something about it that gives me the heart eyes. This Balenciaga number is cut to the perfect levels of over-sized-ness [most def - size down, as it is already cut to swamp you] and, for me, is timeless & chill af. Get ready to see a LOT of it.

Paired with some simple high waisted trousers I've worn to death, fav Gucci boots & distressed tee.

To The Point

A mule, a leather jacket, a high-waist trouser: this is a winning evening combo for me.

There's always gonna be something about these Balenciaga mules - despite the fact that they aren't something I can wear every-day (my standard criteria for investing in high-end). I feel another pair wouldn't be the worst idea ever...

Platforms VS Mini

Much to my surprise, the heat continues here in England, and I continue to leave the house without a jacket - with a totally perplexed look on my face. Who even am I? I love a jacket. It really has been warm though, so a simple mini + white tee is a good choice for a day in the high 20's.

Upped the game with killer Gucci platform sneakers (I bought these with my 15 year old self in mind - had a v.similar pair back in the day, minus the Gucci price tag obvs) and simple belt.

Tee - old Zara, similar here
Belt - Gucci

Off The Shoulder

The date night attire: all black, with hints of gold and white.

I'm always a more casual kinda gal (you may have gathered this by now - unless you're new here - in which case; hi! hello! Pop the kettle on and take a gander) but I love how the Balenciaga mules elevate this look just a touch, and make it more of an evening special situation. Added in my Gucci denim jacket (I didn't get a snap of the back *rolls eyes*...but it is pretty sweet) which is perfect for the summer evening temperature.

THE SUMMER SALES

Summer is here and it undoubtedly goes without saying, that I am loving it. So much so, I'm already in fear of winter coming back...This, my friends, is forever a fear when you live somewhere with a climate such as England.

The summer sales have seemingly landed, and there are some pretty big savings out there, on great pieces. I've done my usual and picked out some items I think are killer: make sure you have a Matches Fashion account to view the private sale - all the Matches items you see listed below, are all 30% off. Win.

The Statement Skirt

I knew as soon as spring hit, this skirt would be my new BFF.

It has so many excellent qualities - but the main thing it screams, for me, is 80's Italian vibes. Maybe due to Versace...I feel it has that kinda aura. Anyway - I adore the design, and as someone that doesn't wear prints that much, it's a bold choice for me. I picked it up in January in the sales over on Matches, (I've linked it here and below - yes, it's still a serious purchase despite the sales) and I'm hoping it will be in my wardrobe 4 eva; as one of those classic, always wearable pieces. Pls note the balance of the way overpriced skirt VS £12 bodysuit. B-A-L-A-N-C-E.

Cut Like A Knife

Do you ever fall in love with ugly shoes?

This seems to be the story of my shoe-life. When I first caught a glimpse of the Balenciaga Knife Mules last year, my heart skipped a beat (quite likely) and I fell in love. But - they were satin - emerald green, and...satin. The thought of spending a three-figure sum on satin shoes - when I live in England, and I'm a walking-full-time-mum; cut short our love affair.

Then, they released them in black...and the heart skipping started all over again. This time, however, I felt less desire to hit the 'ADD TO CART' button. Maybe I was over them.

Fast forward to Feb 2018. Net-A-Porter release their Balenciaga collab, and I spy...gold metallic. GOLD. Upping the fugly level from every angle. I thought about these on and off since then, trying to justify the spend in my mind ('You don't own any teeny heel like that'/'How great for when you go out erm, like 4 nights a year'/'They can be a special shoe for weddings, formal events and...erm, classic events such as dropping Casey at nursery'...er....)

Ok, ok...so I got them. This week. I even debated sending them back, but I unusually felt a bit of a 'fuck it' vibe, put them on - and it naturally sealed the deal. You won't be seeing these guys all the time - they're so impractical for my lifestyle - which really goes against my commandments for high-end purchases, tbh - however - when they do leave their pure white Balenciaga box-home, ya know it's not a nursery drop-off day.
